The different Types of mailers

If you’re running an ecommerce business that does directly ship to customers, then you must know a little bit about how important it is for the products to be safe and protected. But sometimes, a mailer isn’t always necessary, but other times it’s a better alternative to boxes, since it can be cheaper not only to buy, but also to ship too. They come in a lot of different kinds with different benefits as well. Whether you need extra padding, resistant to water, or just branded mailers, there are a ton of different options, and some good ones for you to check out.

Corrugated Mailers

They’re literally compact versions of cardboard boxes. Even though you may need some padding or void fill, these usually are smaller, so the shipping costs are less, and they’re thick, lightweight, and sturdy, guaranteeing to offer a lot of protection for those items that are small and fragile and come in a lot of different options too.

Bubble Mailers

These are essentially a lightweight and durable solution that’s economical and padded, and are good for books, DVDs, stationery, and other smaller items that aren’t really needed to be shipped by a cardboard box but do require the protection from any damages and such too. The also do have a self-sealing strip that takes out the need for tape, and usually are either whit or a brown kraft option, although you can order these custom to fit the product that you have.

Poly Mailers

These are tear-proof, long, clear, expansion, returnable, or colored mailers that are all made from polyethylene, and are great for those weather-resistant options, so you don’t have to worry about the elements getting it. It also is tamper and tear-resistant, which is good because it will be a durable type of mailer so that nothing gets messed up when shipping. These are good for important documents, books, and other materials made of paper, since they offer padding and features that are weather-resistant too and are also self-sealing since they are attached immediately.

Chipboard and Flat Mailers

They are strong and durable mailers that are incredibly lightweight and are great for shipping documents, magazines, photos, legal documents, certificates, and the like. They are good because they prevent these items from being folded, bent, or hurt in any sort of way, and usually are a brown kraft, white, or a black color. They also are self-sealing, tab-lock, and also may be gusseted too in order to offer bulkier, larger shipments as well.

Rigid Mailers

These are made of kraft and are similar to the chipboard ones, and are again, good for documents, artwork, and other stuff, and since this also prevents creases, bends, and folds, you don’t have to worry about it being damaged as well, saving you money on the costs of this, and also come with the self-sealing flap to help make it easy to open.

Glamor

Finally, you have amour mailers, and these are usually a lot prettier to help stand out from others. They can be also lined with a bubble liner inside of there and come in a variety of jaw-dropping colors. They are also self-sealing, so you don’t need tape. The purpose of these is shipping small, luxury products that need nice packaging in order to stand out. They also are good if you’re in a competitive brand and need something to stand out from them. There you have it, some of the most common mailers. As you can see there are a lot of options, and many different ways for you to choose and customize the different items.

Plantable Shipping Supplies

Packaging supplies don’t just have to be tossed in the landfill or sent to a recycling center. In fact, they can be grown. Plantable shipping supplies are becoming the hot, new thing.  Some packaging is embedded with seeds for some planting post-use.   The customer puts them in the ground, and then they grow. How does this work? Is it really that sustainable in the long-term? Here, we’ll go over how plantable shipping supplies and packaging are giving your favorite packaging a second chance.

The material Composition of This Packaging Supplies

For plantable shipping supplies, you need something that will break down in the ground. If there’s plastic or any harmful metals, don’t use this in your packaging supplies.

The best way to make this work is to add biodegradable paper to the mix, where the seeds are.   You can also use paper pulp that has plant seeds infused within this. then, the customer plants this in the ground, it breaks down, without harming the ground, and grows the plant.

It’s great, and for sustainable packaging initiatives, it makes the world of a difference for all that’s involved.

The Applications of Such

These days, sustainable, plantable packaging works for a lot of brands that are eco-conscious. Those that care about the planet will want to use this. food, lifestyle, and other sections will incorporate this type of packaging.

A lot of green clothing and food brands are adding this. they mention on the box that the packaging can be planted, or that there’s seeds infused. Those eco friendly customers will do such, and from there, once it’s in the ground, it can grow.

It won’t be immediate, but a little bit goes a long way. The less tossed into the landfill the better. Even if they do end up there, they naturally break down, reducing the overall carbon footprint.

The impact of these shipping supplies.

The biggest benefit is that you’re not sending out more waste to the landfills. Far too many companies do this. they’ll just send out their items to the landfill when they’re done.   With plantable supplies, you give the packaging another life

Not everyone composes and recycling can be a hassle, especially for specialty products. This reduces waste much better, because all the customer has to do is go out and plant it.

While it might have an immediate impact, this promotes more greenery. In the future, the plant will grow. It could become a flower, tree, whatever.   This promotes greenery, and also enhances biodiversity of our world.   Think of all the fun places you can plant an item like this! the sky’s the limit, especially with all of the newfound additives.

The Future Potential Of This

This type of packaging has a bright, exciting future.

This is especially true in the form of customized packaging. A lot of customized seed blends can be made for the customer to plant. Say a customer wants to plant veggies. Some companies are adding vegetable packaging with veggie seeds in order to plant them.   When these seed blends are planted, they grow.

Based on region is another. Some plants work in hardier climates, while others nee a more tropical climate. Adding this type of packaging is great, because it shows that you’re not only interested in the future of the packaging and the customer, but also that it can make it an exciting experience for all that’s involved.

Look at the future of plantable packaging, and you’ll see a new, innovative experience that will really enhance the potential of a customer, and the overall packaging that you retain from this.

Packaging Tips For Selling Online

Whether you an independent vendor, an online marketplace or selling from your e-commerce store, it is necessary to choose how to package your products the right way. This step is crucial regardless of the size of your business.

The shopping experience of an online customer is not limited to browsing the online store and placing an order. The first physical contact between your brand and the customer happens when your product arrives at their doorstep. This experience is entirely different from that involved in in-store shopping.

In this article, we will discuss some actionable tips to help you with the packaging of your product the right way.

Product security

The very first requirement is to make sure that your product arrives at the customer’s doorstep in one piece. Poor packaging choices can result in the product arriving misshapen or in damaged condition. Good thing is that remedying these choices is not quite hard.

Adding protective materials such as bubble wrap or packaging tissue can add an extra layer of security to the product packaging, allowing brands and companies to keep the product safe from potential damage. Packaging foam is another material that can keep the product in place. Another advantage of packaging foam is that it is lightweight.

Choosing the right cardboard box

The exterior of the product is just as important as the interior. The option that you can consider in this regard is the use of cardboard boxes, which are hard, lightweight, and recyclable. Cardboard boxes are perfect for e-commerce shipping.

While choosing the box size, take into consideration the dimensions of the product and materials that you will have to use for cushioning. Choosing a too-small box can lead to over-stuffing while choosing a too-large box can result in the need to fill too many packaging materials. Such a box will expose the vulnerable product to damage.

A rule of thumb is that if you need extra tape to secure the box, it is smaller than what you need. On the other hand, if the product is easily tilting inside the box, it is too big.

Adding personal touches to your packaging

Trying to be a minimalist, while designing your product packaging, results in it becoming unattractive for your customers. The most necessary thing to consider here is the first impression. Your product at the doorstep may be the very first point of contact between you and your customer. You will want to make it count. It is the opportunity that allows you to show your customers that you are a trustable service.

For this purpose, you can consider using branded tape to make the outer packaging a bit more attractive. You can also use branded materials inside the package to improve the unboxing experience.

Choosing transit and shipping

Accidents during shipping are not the fault of the seller. Unfortunately, your customers may decide to turn away from your brand if anything bad happens to the product during shipping. That is why it is necessary to choose a professional transit and shipping company. You can contact different companies to get quotes.

Does your home have enough office supplies to work at home?

Changes are happening constantly and working in 2021 from home has not been the best experience.  It has meant long hours at home with kids in the background.  All the Zoom calls and now I feel like I am never away from work.  That is why since I am always at work I Need to have all the work accessories at home.  Yes, it is 2021 and the COVID-19 pandemic is still going on.  What a joke right.  99.7%+ of people end up just fine and those stats are better than almost any virus or flu that is out there. But the reality is that that was not the biggest change for my family.  Our change came from the locational change of moving from an apartment to a home for the first time.  My wife and I found a home in the nicest neighborhood in our city and found out that since it needed lots of work that we could actually afford it.  We knew that we would have to do tons of work to this home and that it would take hundreds of hours of work on our part to make it liveable.  But what we discovered was that there are many items that people would consider to be packaging supplies that they actually need on their list and in their home otherwise you end up having issues working well.

I realized right off the bat that I needed tape.  Lots of tape and all the kinds to get my work schedule and papers together. The ability to have tape on hand is even more important for living in a home than versus an apartment.  It went way beyond just work though and to keep our home together we used tape all the time.  That is because there are too many needs for different types of tape that can instantly happen.  These tapes are lifesavers and really time savers.  When it is also illegal to leave your home for non-emergency items it is also important to have lots of these items on hand.  Don't get caught without it.

We all know the most important one and that is Duct Tape. World War II gave us this and it was made to waterproof ammo cans.  What people found was that it had a multitude of other uses and was amazing at sealing almost anything up.  Around the house, we have used it in emergencies to fix leaks and to hold items together to keep thousands of dollars of things from crashing down.  It is also a great way to seal up boxes and basically patch almost anything.  I have taped paintbrushes to poles in order to get to high places because we had broken our extendable paintbrush pole.  We used it for everything and it was worth it.

Having boxes around the house has also been a lifesaver.  You never know when you will need to store items.  Or even keep items from damaging others and cutting up boxes and using them as flooring covers or simply padding has been a huge help in our home.  We stored the majority of our garage items in boxes and created a whole system for the organization.  Using not just cheap boxes but going to an online packaging supplies store to get top-notch boxes was a good call.

The Benefits of Poly Tube Packaging

Poly tube packaging is basically polyethylene packaging materials. This is something that’s become popular due to the strength, versatility, the width, the durability, and the chance to mold all of this into whatever needs you might have. There are three kinds of polyethylene that a lot of people use, and they are as follows:

  • High-density polyethylene

  • Low-density

  • Linear low-density

The poly tubes that are used are made up of one of these three kinds of plastic, with a lot of businesses determining the type to use based off this. There are pros and cons to all of these, and they range from versatility to costs.

While this is considered one of the more popular business packaging options, you may wonder what the full benefits of this are, and we’ll go over what they are here, and why you should consider using poly tube packaging when you’re working on your business.

They’re Lightweight

Unlike other materials that are clunky and make things super complicated, this is something that’s super transportable, and very light too, so you don’t have to worry about spending too much on the shipping cause the packaging is too much.

It also is good for those who are looking to reduce the carbon footprint that’s there and it requires far less manpower to haul and transport the items across the country.

They’re Great for costs

Poly tube packages are much cheaper and they reduce3 the overall costs.

It’s usually a rule of thumb that the thinner your material is, the less it will cost, so if you get the low-density type, it’s great for those who want to be more frugal in their business.

Because the weight of this is quite low, the fees for shipping also tend to be a whole lot lower than those that are bulkier, and you can protect and control the amount of material necessary, so if you need to, you can protect your goods, and also make sure that the money and material isn’t further wasted either.

Great for multiple products.

They’re also really good for multiple products, and you can get these custom. This is great for those who don’t want to spend extra on other materials. It also reduces the shipping by a lot too.

Protects better

This is one of those materials that actually is great for protection. It can reduce chances for damage due to leaking or other possible outside factors.  It also doesn’t create moisture either, so you don’t have to spend more money replacing anything that’s faulty.

More Private

Finally, it’s a lot mor private than other types of packaging. You can choose poly tube bags that show the entire contents, so the customer can look at the quality before they open it up.

You can also use colored or black tubing in order to protect your customers, offer them privacy, and restrict the contents of what’s inside within the bags. So for a lot of businesses that pride themselves on discreet shipping, they can use this, and for those who would like to have the product on full display, then they can do that option too.

This is something to consider on all fronts. tons of people can benefit from poly tube packaging, and more and more people are going to benefit from this type of packaging alternative too. Consider all of these factors when choosing them, and you’ll see just why more are choosing to not only use poly bags but are slowly phasing out other types of packaging that they might’ve been using as well.

Strong Boxes, Strong Business

You can tell a lot about a company by the strength of its boxes. A business that uses sturdy, well-made packaging sends a clear message that it takes pride in what it ships. One that uses thin, dented, or mismatched boxes sends a different one—it cuts corners. In today’s competitive market, customers notice every little detail. A box may seem small, but it is one of the most visible symbols of your standards. When you send out quality boxes, you are not just protecting your products—you are protecting your reputation.

Durability is the backbone of reliability. When boxes hold up through weather, handling, and long hauls, your brand builds silent credibility with every safe arrival. You do not have to tell customers you care—they can see it and feel it when their order shows up intact. Weak boxes tell their own story too. One crushed shipment can lead to refunds, replacements, and a lost customer who may never come back. The cost of upgrading your packaging is small compared to the price of losing trust.

A good shipping box should be sized right, built right, and chosen with intention. Oversized boxes waste filler, add shipping weight, and cost more to send. Undersized ones strain at the seams and increase the risk of damage. The sweet spot is a snug, balanced fit that protects the product while making efficient use of space. Standardizing your box sizes keeps things simple, fast, and efficient. Employees pack faster, shelves stay organized, and reordering becomes predictable. The result is a smoother system and a stronger bottom line.

Perception matters as well. Great boxes look and feel professional. They stack neatly, seal cleanly, and open without a struggle. That matters more than you might think. When a customer receives a well-designed, properly sealed box, it reinforces confidence in your brand. They may not consciously analyze it, but they sense competence. That small spark of trust makes them more likely to reorder, recommend, and remember you. In a world full of forgettable transactions, that kind of subconscious confidence is valuable.

Strong boxes also create calm inside your operation. Teams pack with less stress when boxes do not cave in or require extra tape just to survive a shipment. Less frustration means fewer mistakes and faster turnarounds. When packaging works the way it should, employees spend less time improvising and more time shipping. That efficiency compounds over time. It is not just smoother—it is smarter.

Sustainability fits naturally into this story. Modern corrugated boxes made from recycled fibers offer strength and environmental responsibility in one solution. They help you look good and do good at the same time. Customers respect brands that reduce waste while still delivering quality. A strong, eco-friendly box can win just as many hearts as a fancy logo.

In the end, strong boxes do more than protect products—they help build strong businesses. They keep customers happy, teams productive, and profits secure. Every box you send reflects how much you value what is inside and who is receiving it. Choose boxes that carry your products and your reputation with equal strength. When your boxes are solid, your business foundation is too.

A guide to Void Fill

Void fill is something that’s put in both moving and shipping boxes. But what’s good about it? What are the types of void fill? While custom boxes help to reduce the problem, void fill helps with filling those empty gaps and spaces that are there. If you need to use void fill, you can protect the items that are valuable from moving around especially when the box is being shipped. It’s great for protecting items and is very simple for you to use as well.

Void Fill Vs. Protective Packaging

Both of these are great for protecting items of all kinds, but they are quite different. Protective packaging goes around where your items are. So if you have a vase, protective packaging is what goes around there.  void fill is basically what goes in between the item itself, and the sides of the boxBoth of these are important for fragile and breakable items, creating a cushion that protects the items from getting damaged by different motions.

Do I need it?

The best way to determine if an item needs void fill, is basically the type of product that it is, and the shipping that goes into it. If the box is going to be flipped around and moved about, and if the items aren’t breakable, you probably won't need it.  If you do need to worry a little bit about the item getting broken, then you should definitely look at using void fill.

You should also factor in packaging drops. Drops from several feet updo require you to have some kind of protection most of the time, as boxes usually can only handle so much.

The Types

The thing with void fill, is that you’ve got different types, with different benefits and drawbacks to each. First, you’ve got packaging paper, which is basically paper that gets crumpled in some manner, and then is inserted into each of the gaps. This is the most economical way, as it’s usually used when you’ve got that extra paper lying about.

Another type of protection is air pillows. These are literally plastic packaging that are filled with air. The downside to this one is that it’s not very eco friendly, and it does require you to have a way to inflate this, in order to make sure that it protects the entire area. You’ve also got bubble wrap, which is a way for you to protect the packaging. Most people use this if they have it around already, but this is another one that’s not necessarily the most eco friendly, but it does work to reduce the different movements there.

Crinkle paper is another one. This is basically shredded, jagged paper that you toss into this. It’s one of the cheapest ways to fill the void.

Corrugated inserts are another one. This is basically cardboard that’s put inside to separate all of the materials. Basically, they get cut off, offering more protection, and keeping the items separated.

Finally, you’ve got packaging peanuts which are tiny peanuts that are used in bulky ways to prevent movement there.

This is something that’s great for filling the spaces which are empty within all of this.

All of these are great ways to protect items from being damaged, and also are good if you’re submitting items to be handled by a lot of people.

The thing with packaging that uses this, is that it’s great for filling in the obvious holes.  There are tons of different ways to use this, but if you want a good, easy way to protect all of your items, this is the way.
